David has a long history of working with children in the great outdoors, and he likes to use adventure and nature to help young people learn about themselves, other students and the world around them.
With a bachelor’s degree in applied technology from the University of Wisconsin and a master’s degree in physical and outdoor education from the University of Northern Colorado, his areas of expertise also include educational leadership, programming, safety and risk management. His coursework covered a wide variety of subjects related to outdoor learning, including time spent in a program that took him to Australia to study natural resources. His resume boasts a long list of directorships and coordinator positions, and he has worked with young people in a wide variety of schools and programs.
David strives to connect with each student in a meaningful way, learning about them, and demonstrating a willingness to listen to their thoughts and ideas. He also likes to create activities and courses that engage individuals in new ways of thinking while also enjoying the prospect of learning.
He approaches life with a sense of fun and adventure and a willingness to try new things. “I hope that I can set an example for students to get out there and reach for the stars,” says David.
